I am a tenacious lawyer and have a creative approach to problem solving in order to achieve the best results for my clients. I am praised for providing legal advice in a friendly and empathetic manner, as I recognise the stressful situations my clients face.

I work on contentious and non-contentious matters and regularly advise both employers and employees on topics such as unfair and wrongful dismissal, restrictive covenants, bullying, discrimination, whistleblowing, maternity and other family friendly matters.

I have particular experience in senior executive appointments and terminations, bringing and defending complex discrimination and whistleblowing claims in the employment tribunals and advising employers and employees on the enforceability of restrictive covenants and confidentiality agreements.

I also regularly draft contracts of employment, consultancy agreements, HR policies and settlement agreements for employers as well as advising businesses on day to day operational issues, such as on how to avoid grievances and disciplinary proceedings. I act for a variety of organisations, including charities and not for profit organisations of varying sizes. I have a particular interest in advising business start-ups and understand their need to keep costs at a minimum, while also providing them with the necessary protections to develop their businesses.

Further, I advise on restructuring exercises, redundancies (including collective redundancies) and employment issues arising from insolvency. I also have significant experience in advising clients on TUPE-related matters as well as data protection issues. I am often instructed to advise on settlement agreements (formerly known as compromise agreements) and have secured generous packages for numerous clients. I also have experience in advising members on joining LLPs.

I enjoy providing tailored training to clients and external bodies on all matters arising throughout the employment lifecycle i.e. from recruitment to dismissal and beyond.

I am a member of the Employment Lawyers Association.

Work highlights

Advising statutory regulatory bodies on matters including discrimination and whistleblowing.

Advising several employees within a large multinational company on claims regarding breach of the TUPE Regulations and collective consultation obligations under the Trade Union Labour Relations (Consolidation) Act 1992. I was able to secure generous settlement packages for the employees concerned.

Outside interests

I enjoy playing the piano. I am a keen reader and hope to one day finish writing a book!

I am very interested in positive psychology, personality tests and employee engagement and write about such matters on my blog.
