Lailaa Bettis - Senior Solicitor
I advise both businesses and individuals on all employment law issues including disputes in the employment tribunal and High Court as well as everyday workplace matters, such as grievance and disciplinary issues. I also draft employment contracts, consultancy agreements, handbooks and policies and advise individuals on their settlement agreements, employee shareholder agreements and new employment contracts.
My approach is to identify the most practical, commercial and cost-effective route to achieving my clients’ objectives and help my clients to achieve those objectives.
Advised a manufacturing company in respect of difficult disciplinary matters involving a long-serving employee which resulted in an agreed termination of their employment.
In depth advice on the holiday pay situation for different categories of employees for a construction company.
Advised an individual on the enforceability of clauses in his contract that restricted him from working for a competitor and from poaching clients and colleagues.
I advise clients across a broad range of sectors including HR advisers, construction, education, PR and charities.
Outside of work
In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with friends and family (especially my nephews), reading (mostly gritty crime novels) and visiting new places.
